Bryson DeChambeau plans to use LIV Golf’s three-month off-season to reach a “very different level of strength,” but he won’t undergo quite as drastic a transformation as he did two years ago when he reached 240 pounds.

The American gained 50 pounds in less than a year between 2019 and 2020, which helped him significantly increase his driving distance and win the 2020 US Open.

Now, DeChambeau, who sits at 215 pounds, is looking at another weight gain without some of the pitfalls of his previous approach.

“I’m going to get taller, but this time in a healthy way,” DeChambeau said GolfDigest.

‘I’m excited about that. The last time I did it, I put on a lot of fat,” he said.

“What I want to do is stay slim, but gain two to three pounds of muscle by working really hard and reaching a whole different level of strength.”

The golfer revealed in 2020 that he ate a whopping 3,500 calories a day to achieve the transformation, averaging six to seven protein shakes a day.

He also said he had four eggs, five pieces of bacon, and some toast for breakfast at the time.

The 29-year-old now said he wants to increase his weight to 225 for the first LIV event in 2023.

LIV’s 2023 season is tentatively scheduled to begin in Florida in February.
