Bryce Young ‘attracting trade interest from several NFL teams’ – despite being dropped by the Panthers after awful start to the season

According to Carolina Panthers quarterback Bryce Young, the player is attracting interest from several NFL teams. ESPNIt’s Adam Schefter.

Despite his initial struggles, injuries and being benched after a 0-2 start, Young has come into the picture for several teams.

According to ESPN sources, the Panthers have been approached by teams about Young, but coach Dave Canales has no intention of trading the former No. 1 overall pick.

While the Panthers plan to keep Young as a backup to Andy Dalton for the time being, NFL sources believe it won’t be long before they can finalize a deal. Sources suggest Young will remain in Charlotte through at least the end of the season.

After Young was benched on Monday, the Panthers will likely call on him in the future depending on how the next few weeks go, ESPN reported.

Carolina Panthers Quarterback Bryce Young Draws Interest in Transfer Despite Initial Issues

Carolina is 2-16 with the former No. 1 overall pick as their starter, he has since been benched

The Panthers are 2-16 with the former No. 1 overall pick as their starter, the worst record through 18 games of any quarterback selected with the first pick in the Super Bowl era.

The former Heisman winner has a Total QBR of 9.1 this season, one of the worst in NFL history for consecutive games.

On Thursday, Young admitted he was surprised to be on the bench. However, he acknowledged there was “a long list of things I wanted to improve on and I’m going to continue to work and grow and improve and get better at it.”

When asked Wednesday if he would trade Young, Canales said without hesitation that it was “not something we’re really considering.”

While his early struggles may have dimmed his light, Young could still bring some trade value to the Panthers. However, it would likely be well below the value Carolina traded to Chicago last year to move up in the draft.

Despite the interest, the Panthers plan to retain Young as a backup to starter Andy Dalton

If traded, Young would join a handful of first-round quarterbacks who have been traded in recent years. Last offseason, the Jets traded Zach Wilson (No. 2 overall) to the Broncos, the Bears traded Justin Fields (No. 11) to the Steelers and the Patriots traded Mac Jones (No. 15) to the Jaguars.

Panthers running back Miles Sanders supported Young amid the adversity, saying “it’s definitely not over” for the star in his sophomore year. Wide receiver Adam Thielen added that he’s “really excited for [Young’s] future.’

“When you see him practice today, the throws he made, his confidence — you know he can do this at a high level,” Thielen said. “Sometimes it’s not so bad to just step back and take a breath.”

The Panthers play the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday.
