Bryce Dallas Howard, 42, reveals she has ‘retired’ from talking about her weight as she gets candid on shaming: ‘My focus is on what my body is doing’

Bryce Dallas Howard revealed she will no longer have discussions about her weight as she opens up about body shaming – and how she’s tackling it now.

The award-winning star, 42 – who has been busy promoting her latest spy film Argylle – said she will be shutting down the topic about her body while recently chatting to People.

“I’ve stopped talking about my body,” the Help actress admitted to the outlet, adding, “My focus is on what my body does, what my body is capable of.”

The beauty – who previously revealed she was asked to lose weight while working in Hollywood – explained: ‘Who I am is someone who fluctuates.’

“It took some time, it took some work, and it took some counsel to really realize that dieting is the enemy, at least for me.”

The mother of two also opened up about her refusal to lose weight for a film and how she has conversations about the subject before signing up for a project.

“What I found best is communicating with people early in the interview process,” Howard said.

‘What I would say is, ‘If you want to cast me, great. But if you think you want to cast me, but 20 pounds less me or 40 pounds less me, then that’s basically a different actor.’

She continued, “I’m not, and I’m not going to shame you for this right now. We need to have a real conversation here because if you hire me, you hire me.”

Bryce then revealed that she broached the subject with director Matthew Vaughn before taking on a role in Argylle.

“I had that conversation with Matthew. And Matthew said, “Yes, I’m hiring you,” the actress further recalled.

The star explained that maintaining her normal weight had been an asset during production. ‘It has even made me stronger. It allowed me to do more.’

Bryce stated that she is working to “train my body to achieve X, Y, or Z under any conditions I have to bring to life for a film.”

In September 2022, Howard revealed that she had been asked to lose weight ahead of filming Jurassic World Dominion.

During an interview with Subway, The actress explained that the subject of her body had come up ‘again’ during the filming of the project, but explained that director Colin Trevorrow defended her.
