Breaking Bad’s Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul Make Cameo in Preview for It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia’s 16th Season
Breaking Bad stars Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul make cameos in a new sneak peek for the 16th season of the FX comedy It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.
In the trailer, Cranston and Paul—who played the roles of Walter White and Jesse Pinkman, respectively, on the AMC series—are in the back of a vehicle driven by the show’s Charlie Kelly (played by Charlie Day).
Charlie warns the ubiquitous pair that the car “might smell a little funky” after jumping in earlier, to which Paul says, “Oh, perfect.”
Charlie also references Cranston’s earlier signature role in the comedy Malcolm in the Middle, calling him “Mr. Malcolm’ in the clip.
According to a synopsis from FX, the show – which also stars Rob McElhenney, Danny DeVito, Glenn Howerton and Kaitlin Olson – will return “for a record-extending Sweet 16 season.”

“The Gang rips right out of the headlines as they yearn for the past and try to survive the year, navigating 2023 with 16 years of baggage and a few figures from their past raising their heads.”
The synopsis goes into the details of the key character storylines, noting that “Mac (McElhenney) has struggled with allergies and long-distance dating this year alone” and “Charlie is up against his long-forgotten sisters.”
Also, according to the synopsis, “Dee (Olson) fights for rent control and women’s athletics, Frank (DeVito) struggles for his gun, and Dennis (Howerton) struggles to improve his sanity.”
Cranston and Paul are the latest in a string of notable names to appear on the long-running FX comedy.
Others seen on the program include Diddy, Pablo Schreiber, Josh Groban, Guillermo del Toro, and Game of Thrones co-creators David Benioff and DB Weiss.

Danny DeVito plays the role of Frank Reynolds in the popular comedy set in the City of Brotherly Love
Cranston and Paul helmed the Emmy-winning hit Breaking Bad for five seasons from 2008-2013, and last year they appeared again in the final season of the show’s spin-off, Better Caul Saul.
The actors are also good friends and have founded a company together, as in 2019 they founded the mezcal company Dos Hombres.
It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia is scheduled to return on FX on June 7.
