Brutal brawl between fans in the stands at NBA game distracts player’s postgame interview: ‘This is crazy’

Miami Heat star Tyler Herro was struggling to stay focused during a postgame interview Tuesday night when a brawl in the stands caught his attention.

After the Heat’s preseason win over the San Antonio Spurs, a fight broke out in one of the lower sections of Kaseya Center as Herro spoke to Bally Sport Sun.

The marksman showed impressive multitasking as he went through the questions while tuning in to the chaos behind one of the hoops. Herro would apologize for being distracted before finishing his answer.

“Just continue to figure out what we can do to get ready for the season,” Herro said. “Sorry, I’m distracted by a fight up there. This is crazy.’

Kelly Saco, who conducted the interview, looked on and said she hoped “this goes away quickly” before letting Herro go back to the locker room. Herro was still looking at the scene of the fight as he walked away.

A video of the incident went viral on social media, showing a vicious clip that lasted at least 30 seconds. Arena security and law enforcement then arrived on scene to defuse the situation.

Three men were involved, throwing their fists as two of them appeared to attack the third. The three were also seen grabbing each other, with one of the three having his shirt ripped at the end of the clip.

A woman is also seen trying to get in on the action as a bystander continuously shouts for them to stop throwing punches.

What started the massive brawl remains unclear.

Herro scored 14 points in the Heat’s 120-117 victory. The team opens their season next Wednesday at home against the Orlando Magic.

Miami lost to eventual champion Boston in the first round of last season’s playoffs after playing Denver in the 2023 NBA Finals. Nevertheless, the Heat have retained the same core of Herro, Jimmy Butler and Bam Adebayo.
