Bruno Guimaraes has criticized a Newcastle fan account for having “short, stupid memories” following their narrow 1-0 defeat to Manchester City.
Newcastle were defeated by the reigning Premier League champions at the Etihad on Saturday, with Julian Alvarez’s goal proving the difference between the teams.
Guimaraes admitted after the game that the team can perform ‘much better’ after the defeat.
However, the Brazilian midfielder was angered by a social media post from Newcastle fan account NUFC360.
The account asked its nearly 139,000 followers, “Is it too early in the season to put the blame on individual players? Was there an overreaction to losing to Man City?’

An image featuring Guimaraes, Joelinton, Miguel Almiron and Dan Burn was posted alongside the tweet.
Guimaraes hit back on the post, highlighting the transformation the club has gone through over the past 18 months.
Newcastle were battling relegation from the Premier League when he joined the club from Lyon in January 2022 on a £30 million contract.
Eddie Howe’s side changed things up last season, with Newcastle securing a place in the top four to secure qualification for the Champions League.
‘Is this serious? We’re in Champions League football, we’ve lost to arguably one of the best teams in the world and we’ve had a big win and lost one match,” Guimaraes wrote in a now-deleted tweet.
“Support at the right time is easy. You all have short, stupid memories.
“Look what we’ve done for the team in a year and a half.”
Guimaraes’ post prompted an apology from the NUFC360 fan account.

Guimaraes accused the account of “short stupid memoirs” in a now-deleted tweet
“We are behind you, Bruno Guimaraes. This post was a way of trying to focus on the madness of those who try to accuse players after two matches,” the account replied.
“I’m sorry if it wasn’t phrased that way. NUFC360 stands behind all our players.
The fan account also claimed that the four players in the image had been criticized by fans on social media since the loss to Man City.
Newcastle had started the season in stunning fashion by beating Aston Villa 5-1 at home.
Howe’s side will look set to recover from defeat at Man City when they host Liverpool on Saturday.
