Newcastle United midfielder Bruno Guimaraes has expressed uncertainty over his future at St James’ Park due to Financial Fair Play, despite being happy at the club.
Guimaraes, 26, has become the Magpies general in the middle of the park since joining the club in January 2022 and is adored by the Geordie faithful.
After another stellar season under Eddie Howe, transfer speculation has increased, with clubs including Manchester City, Arsenal and Paris Saint-Germain interested in Guimaraes’ signature.
The Brazilian star has a £100million buyout clause in his contract until the end of June, and with the threat of Premier League financial regulations hanging over Newcastle’s head, his future at the club has been thrown into doubt.
“Look, my future is honestly in God’s hands,” Guimaraes said.

Speaking to TNT Sports Brazil, he continued: ‘I have a contract with Newcastle, I am very happy, as I said, I know how much they love me, I know everything I have done for the club.
‘In short, I have a contract, I am happy. I don’t know what could happen, we know all about Financial Fair Play, but what I can say is that I feel happy.’
The threat of prowling top clubs will come as no surprise to Newcastle fans who have seen Guimaraes play a key role in the club’s development under manager Eddie Howe.
He has attracted the attention of the Premier League’s top two, among others, and despite his satisfaction with life in the North East, Guimaraes is flattered by the potential interest.
‘Of course it is very nice to link your name to big clubs, it shows that I am doing my job well, but I am not worried about it at all.
‘Like I said, I’m happy at the club. I’m very happy, so let’s see what happens. “I’m not in a hurry, I’m happy, and it’s up to God, let’s see what happens,” he said.
‘It was a good season, even though the club had a lot of injuries and a lot of suspensions, in short I think it was a great season for me, a season that will remain in my memory and I hope to have more seasons. like that.’

The release clause in Guimaraes’ contract expires in less than a month, but Howe previously stressed that this should make no difference to the midfielder’s future at the club.
In April he said: ‘Because that was well planned and structured by the club, in a sense that there is an end point.
“We don’t want the constant speculation, I don’t think that’s healthy for the player or healthy for us.”
