Bruno Fernandes says that Gabby Agbonlahor’s criticisms of Manchester United are ‘not something that worries him’.

The talkSPORT pundit blasted Erik ten Hag’s side after their 4-0 defeat away at Brentford in the Premier League – where they conceded all four goals in the first-half.

And now United’s No.8 has recalled a conversation with former team-mate Juan Mata to re-affirm that the former Aston Villa striker ‘doesn’t know who I am’.

On Agbonlahor’s brutal remarks, Fernandes told ELEVEN: ‘It’s honestly not something that worries me too much. He’s never played with me, he doesn’t know how I am.

‘Just yesterday I told my wife, who spoke to me about this interview and I said “You know what calms me down?”

‘Just two days ago a person called Juan Mata, world champion, European champion, winner of the Champions League, all in England, said to me: “You were the best people I’ve met in football, continue like that, being yourself, with that honesty , this ability to work”.

‘If someone says that… you know how I am. Boring, because I demand it, but because I am demanding with myself and I also demand it from others’, he said.

After United’s 4-0 loss to Brentford, Agbonlahor told talkSPORT: ‘This is not Manchester United. If I was them now after this game I’d be thinking, “You know what, ten Hag, just pack up”. He’s had pre-season and they have started the season as a shambles, they’re like strangers on the pitch.

‘They’re just not good enough. It’s a shambles kit, shambles club at the moment.

‘I’ve been hammering United and people are saying I’ve got an agenda against Manchester United – no, I’m speaking facts that real Manchester United fans will agree with.’

Fernandes also spoke on United’s rocky opening to their Premier League campaign. He said: ‘It’s been a difficult start, nobody is prepared to start like that at this club. But there is no better game to give an answer, for us and for our ambitions.

‘It’s because of the lack of trust between us. With Brighton, when we suffered the goal we felt that mistrust that came from last year. It’s mainly confidence. That’s what we have to recover’.

‘It’s a sad locker room, a bit dejected by the results. Expectations were high after the pre-season we had. The locker room knows it’s not at the level it needs to be. to look in the mirror and do better than I’ve been doing. There is no problem in the dressing room, quite the opposite’, he stressed.

They’ll be hoping to rectify their poor league start with a with against rivals Liverpool on Monday night.
