Bruce Springsteen breaks silence over whether he really is a billionaire

Bruce Springsteen shuts down the buzz around his bank account and says the billionaire label just doesn’t fit.

Forbes he recently estimated his net worth at over $1.1 billion, but Springsteen clarified this The Telegraph on Friday: β€œI’m not a billionaire. I wish I was, but they got that all wrong.”

Despite selling a $500 million music catalog in 2021 and a blockbuster $379.5 million tour with the E Street Band this year, the 75-year-old legend admits he’s spent ‘too much money on unnecessary things’ , which has reduced his fortunes.

Additionally, Springsteen noted that he makes sure he fairly compensates those he makes music with.

β€œI pay a huge amount of money to my band,” he said, claiming this was the key to his success.

β€œIf you get the art right, the music right and the band right, you go out every night and play like it’s your last night on earth,” he said, adding, β€œThat was the band’s serial philosophy , and we ‘stick to it.’

However, Bruce chose to keep the exact numbers close to the vest, leaving Forbes’ Billionaires Report without a precise counter.

Springsteen’s confession to his bank account comes after he shares his secret to staying young.

In an interview with The Times, the Grammy winner revealed his diet trick: he only eats one full meal a day.

β€œI’ll have some fruit in the morning and then I’ll have dinner,” the rock star said. “That’s kept me lean and mean.”

Hulu and Disney+’s new documentary, Road Diary: Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band, delves into these aspects of Springsteen’s world.

The film also reveals that Bruce’s wife Patti Scialfa is battling a rare blood cancer.

Scialfa, guitarist for Springsteen’s E Street Band, was diagnosed with multiple myeloma, a form of blood cancer, in 2018 and has since stopped touring to privately monitor her health journey.

At the premiere of Bruce’s documentary at the Toronto Film Festival last month, she opened up about her battle with the disease.

Reflecting on her decision to reduce her performing commitments, she said it was exciting to return to the stage after 40 years of performing, but that touring has become increasingly challenging for her.

Since her diagnosis while performing in a Broadway play, Patti explained that she appears occasionally at shows and sings a few songs, but her focus remains on her health.

She acknowledged the need to be careful, saying, “This affects my immune system, so I just have to be careful about what I choose to do and where I go,” but added that her new normal is something she has learned to accept.
