Bruce Highway crash at Bauple: One dead, as another fights for life
One man is dead and another is fighting for his life after another horrific crash on Queensland’s Bruce Highway.
Emergency services rushed to Bruce Highway, near the intersection of Stratford and Mountain Roads, about 10km south of Tiaro, shortly after noon on Thursday after reports of a multi-vehicle crash.
A 59-year-old man died at the scene.
Paramedics treated the driver of a car for life-threatening injuries after his vehicle and two other vehicles, including a truck, collided.
Police confirmed the two vehicles – a car towing a caravan and a pickup truck behind it – were travelling north on the highway when the crash occurred.
The truck was traveling southbound and collided with the two vehicles, piercing the side rails of the highway.
The police are investigating on site whether a loose wheel from the caravan was the cause of the accident.
“We were initially able to determine that a wheel had fallen off the caravan and that this had led to a collision between the two vehicles,” the police said. The courier post.

Firefighters from the Queensland Fire Service had to free one of the people from the wreckage, while a rescue helicopter was also called in but was quickly withdrawn.
Police have established a crime scene and closed a section of Bruce Highway.
The highway is expected to remain closed for some time as Forensic Crash Unit officers investigate the crash site.
Motorists are urged to avoid the area. They will be diverted or directed via Bauple.
The accident happened just days after three women were killed in a bus crash on the same highway.
The Greyhound bus collided with a four-wheel drive vehicle pulling a caravan on the Bruce Highway, near the Wilson Creek Rest Area, between Gumlu and Wangaratta, at 12.50pm on Sunday.
There were about 33 people on the intercity Greyhound bus travelling between Bowen and Townsville. Two people were in the car pulling the caravan.
Police confirmed that a 56-year-old Townsville woman died in the crash. She was believed to have been travelling from Brisbane to Townsville with her daughter, who was uninjured.
Two women, aged between 20 and 30, were also killed in the collision, while two injured people, aged between 23 and 24, were taken to Townsville Hospital in a critical condition.
Two men, aged 24 and 23, are in a critical condition in a Townsville hospital.
