Brown snakebite: Wild twist after ‘snakebite death in Queensland – as real cause of human death revealed’
- The man died after being bitten by a snake
A heroic grandfather who had a snake wrapped around his partner’s ankle had no snake venom in his system when he died.
Donny Morrison, 68, was killed when the snake – believed to be an eastern brown snake – bit him after he pulled it off his friend during a school party in rural Queensland.

He attended the 100th anniversary of Koumala State School at a local park 60km south of Mackay, central Queensland, with his wife Leanne and daughter Britt on Saturday.
Paramedics fought desperately for 30 minutes to revive Mr Morrison before he is believed to have suffered a heart attack and died.
His devastated family released a statement about his death on Thursday.
“We have received preliminary findings from the coroner’s office confirming that there was no snake venom in Donny’s system,” the statement read.
‘This therefore rules out snakebite being a contributing factor or cause of death.
“It is believed that Donny may have had an underlying medical condition of which he was unaware.”
Mr Morrison’s exact cause of death remains under investigation.
