Brother of Miami police officer who yanked Dolphins star Tyreek Hill from his $300,000 McLaren in viral bodycam video reveals what cop was afraid of when he refused to lower window
The brother of a Miami police officer under internal investigation for assaulting Tyreek Hill during a controversial traffic stop says the Dolphins superstar incited the commotion by showing “disrespect” to officers and refusing to roll down his tinted windows.
Danny “Dano” Torres, 51, was suspended after he was captured on body camera pulling Hill, 30, from his McLaren and throwing him to the ground outside Hard Rock Stadium.
The heavily tattooed police officer was branded a bully and a hothead after footage of Sunday’s match went viral.
But his supporters say Torres had every reason to worry that Hill would reach for a weapon from behind the dark windows of his $300,000 supercar.
DailyMail.com can reveal that Torres is a 27-year law enforcement veteran, part-time DJ and motorcycle enthusiast who enjoys wearing leather suits and riding a Harley Davidson in his spare time.
Miami agent Danny Torres is an excellent agent, his brother David tells DailyMail.com. He and his wife Terry, an elementary school teacher, have been married since January 2016.

According to his brother David Torres, he is an “excellent police officer” and Hill “has only himself to blame” for the altercation.
“The tints he had were illegal tints. For the officer’s safety he needs to be able to see inside the vehicle at all times,” David insisted, speaking exclusively to DailyMail.com.
Especially in South Florida, you never know what’s in that car or what that person is doing, and he’s not only protecting himself, he’s protecting the rest of the officers around him.
Miami-Dade Police officers gave chase on their bicycles after Hill sped past them at 10:39 a.m. to join his Dolphins teammates for their season opener against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Video footage released to the media shows an officer tapping on Hill’s window and the eight-time Pro Bowler rolling down the window and handing over his driver’s license.
“Don’t knock on my window like that,” Hill says sarcastically.

“Just give me my ticket, bro, so I can go. I’m gonna be late. Do what you gotta do.”
The confrontation quickly takes a sinister turn when Hill rolls up his window again and ignores multiple requests to lower it.
“I’m going to get you out of the car. In fact, get out of the car,” the officer snaps at the $20 million-a-year star.
Then Torres comes into the picture, the overweight officer angrily warns Hill: “Get out of the car or I’ll break that damn window.”
He pries open the McLaren’s revolving butterfly door and grabs the prized recipient, before slamming him face-first into the ground and planting a knee in the middle of his back.
Hill is then handcuffed and led to the sidewalk, where Torres again grabs him from behind and forces him into a sitting position.
When the Super Bowl winner warns officers that he recently had knee surgery and begs them to “stay calm,” they reprimand him for ignoring their commands and tell him to “stop crying.”
Hill was eventually released after receiving fines totaling $309 for not wearing a seat belt and reckless driving.

“The officers have every right to keep themselves safe. And that’s exactly what happened. They kept themselves safe,” David said of the incident involving his brother and Hill
Officer M. Batista’s paperwork states he was driving 60 mph in a 40 mph area, but there is no mention of tinted windows on the 2018 McLaren 729S. Hill told reporters afterward that he was “in shock” over the incident and feared he would have been shot if he hadn’t been a famous NFL star.
But Torres’ brother says his brother treated the VIP athlete like any other motorist, because he doesn’t follow football and had no idea who he was dealing with.
He believes the traffic stop would have been different if Hill had followed simple instructions.
“Nobody really wants to admit that Tyreek disrespected the police officers,” David, 47, told DailyMail.com.
“If you watch the video, he didn’t follow the instructions from the beginning. He was yelling at the officer and telling him not to bang on his window.

Four years later, Torres was knocked off his bike in an off-duty accident and was left fighting for his life, inspiring his friends in law enforcement to start a GoFundMe to raise money for his medical expenses.
Torres recovered and was able to return to work. He earned about $171,000 last year, including overtime, according to county records.
He also works as a ‘dj_dno’ in his spare time, spinning the latest EDM tracks from Steve Aoki and David Guetta to cater to ‘all your music and entertainment needs’, according to an Instagram profile.
Danny’s brother, David Torres, has come out in support of the officer, telling DailyMail that he is an ‘excellent officer’ – and that Tyreek ‘only has himself to blame for the altercation’
Miami-Dade Police Chief Stephanie Daniels placed Torres on administrative leave after she reviewed bodycam footage, which she made public to demonstrate her department’s “commitment to transparency.”
Torres’ lawyers say he should be reinstated immediately, a statement David agrees with.
“My brother is a very charismatic guy, he’s very nice. Wherever he goes, people like him,” David added.
“He has a strong character, but you have to have that if you’re going to be a police officer in South Florida for that long.
“He’s just a straight-up, black-and-white person. I don’t mean anything racist by that, I mean he does things by the book.
“I think he’s an excellent officer. I see no reason why he shouldn’t be reinstated.”

But it was also a turbulent year off the court. He was devastated by a massive house fire, became embroiled in paternity lawsuits from multiple women and filed for divorce from wellness influencer Keeta Vaccaro, 28, just months after marrying her.
Hill withdrew the petition within days, claiming it had been filed by his lawyers without his knowledge. The couple is expecting their first child.
Hill is also being sued by Sophie Hall, a plus-size influencer, who claims he went down on her and broke her leg during a workout at his Southwest Ranches mansion.
