Brooklyn Nets guard Cam Thomas apologizes for a homophobic comment live on TV after saying his team has “good-looking guys, not gay guys” in an on-court interview

Nets guard Cam Thomas apologized Thursday night for saying “no homo” in an on-court interview after the team’s 116-105 win over the Bulls.

The comment came about when TNT’s Jared Greenberg asked Thomas about Spencer Dinwiddie’s comments at his (re)introduction press conference with Brooklyn.

Dinwiddie had joked that he and Dorian Finney-Smith were “not the best trade package, but we’re the best looking and the Nets needed help in that department.”

When asked about Dinwiddie’s comments on Thursday, Thomas said: “I saw it, but I was like, man, he’s just talking for laughs.” We already had good-looking guys, not homosexuals.’

Not long after the game ended, at 10:34 p.m. ET, Thomas posted an apology on his Twitter account.

Thomas has been on a blistering scoring streak of late and scored 20 points against the Bulls.

I want to apologize for the insensitive word I used in the post game interview. I was excited about the win and I was playing,” he said.

‘I definitely didn’t mean to offend anyone, but realize I probably did. My apologies again. Lots of love.’

Greenberg said “I’m sure the league office will enjoy it” after Thomas’ comment, and history suggests the guard will be fined for the comment.

In 2018, Nuggets center Nikola Jokic said the Bulls’ Wendell Carter Jr. is “longer than you’d expect,” but he prefaced that comment by saying “no homo.”

Jokic was fined $25k for the comment, while former Pacers center Roy Hibbert was fined the same amount for the same offense in 2013.
