Brooklyn Beckham wins unanimous praise after sending himself up for a tongue-in-cheek travel campaign

Brooklyn Beckham played himself for fun on Tuesday when he appeared in a new ad for an online travel agency.

The eldest of David and Victoria Beckham’s four children proved he’s a good sport by shedding light on his mixed fortunes as a photographer and social media chef.

Brooklyn, 25, appears in a light-hearted campaign for booking.com, playing an overconfident but ultimately dim-witted version of himself while visiting New York – the city of his conception.

Even though Brooklyn calls himself an “amazing chef, a fantastic photographer” and a “genius,” he still manages to amaze everyone who comes into contact with him. This includes a street artist who looks bewildered when asked whether graffiti is ‘Italian’.

The worst soon follows, with the hapless influencer describing bagels as “America’s English muffin” before making a mess of his attempt to make one from scratch during a bagel-making class.

After booking his own flight to New York, Brooklyn optimistically describes himself as a “professional traveler” after checking into the five-star Dominick Hotel in Manhattan.

But he undermines himself after confusing the Manhattan Bridge with the nearby Brooklyn Bridge, before congratulating himself on the free breakfast.

The new campaign appeared to be a success when it appeared on his Instagram page late Tuesday night, with fans crediting Brooklyn with making fun of itself.

“Bizarrely great advertising and marketing and the English sense of humor and wit… fair play,” one person wrote.

While a second added: ‘Fantastic move from Brooklyn. Own the ‘negativity’ and transform it into your power.’

A third wrote: ‘This was way better than it needed to be.’

Elsewhere, a fourth commented: ‘I like that he can laugh at himself. This is brilliant.’

Another said: ‘He looks just like his dad… that was so funny.’

The ad comes after Brooklyn showed off his culinary skills at the Cannes Lions International Festival Of Creativity.

The aspiring chef took to the stage in Cannes with host Makho Ndlovu, where he prepared a gazpacho soup and ceviche soup with cod.

During the demo, Brooklyn also talked about his personal life, including his marriage to American actress Nicola Peltz Beckham.

When asked what married life is like, he said, “It’s so important to find that one person you want to spend the rest of your life with. I married my best friend, so it’s the best.’

Brooklyn also confirmed that he does all the cooking and cleaning at home, saying, “My wife can’t cook at all.”
