Brooklyn Beckham monetises his controversial Instagram cookery career by making CAKE with trendy avocado oil… as he plugs bottles of the $20 ingredient beloved by his mum

Brooklyn Beckham has shared his latest cooking video on Instagram, in which he secured funding from a brand partnership.

Taking to the photo-sharing site on Friday, the son of David and Victoria Beckham, 24, talked fans through making a cake using avocado oil as he described the different stages before getting to the end of the treat.

In the caption for the post, Brooklyn stated that the video was a collaboration with Chosen Foods, an avocado oil brand, which he had previously affiliated with and in the final clip he showed off both the pure oil form and the spray version of the ingredient.

In June he came under fire for using an entire bottle of the same oil to make fried chicken – with fans branding him ‘out of reach’ – while his mother had in the past spoken about avocado oil as part of her militant diet.

His cooking has come under fire in the past, as many have dismissed his simple recipes or spoken out about accusations of nepotism.

In the latest video, Brooklyn speaks to the camera about his process of making the cake, which included avocado in place of butter.

He covered the finished article with berries and powdered sugar – which he called powdered sugar in a nod to his American audience – and then ate the cake.

However, some fans weren’t convinced, with one user writing: ‘How do you make cooking look so unnatural and awkward’, while another called the cake ‘dry’.

However, he also received admiring responses, with some of his fans writing: I love your cooking videos and I really love your T-shirt!!…

“I love your cooking buddy, a lot of people hate me, but you’re a chef… Brooklyn Beckham cooking up a storm? I wonder if he adds a touch of ‘Posh’ spice to his dishes!… I’ll make that right now… yes please…

He shared a video on how to make the fried chicken, but fans took issue with the oil he used.

Despite claims about the oil’s “high smoke point and neutral taste,” Brooklyn’s followers claimed he used a “huge amount” of the expensive product for the recipe.

Brooklyn, who previously came under fire for its flashy ingredients including truffle and a £60 beef rib, was criticized again for his choices.

In 2021, he found himself at the center of a furious foodie frenzy after stunning Today show viewers by appearing on a live cooking segment – in which he simply ‘put together a sandwich’.

Brooklyn appeared on the US program when he shared his ‘recipe’ for an English breakfast sandwich, a dish he ‘learned from his great-grandmother’.

He explained that he developed a passion for cooking during lockdown, during which he began posting videos of himself preparing dishes on Instagram, then guided hosts Hoda Kotb and Carson Daly through his sandwich-making process.

But while Today presenters were quick to praise his simple creation, viewers were up in arms over the decision to show such an easy-to-assemble dish, with many calling the clip ’embarrassing’ and ‘painful’.

At the start of the segment, Brooklyn told viewers about dad David’s love of food, before waxing lyrical about his ‘favorite’ cast iron skillet, which was already filled with pre-cooked sausages and bacon strips.

He added that his love for cooking started blossoming during the quarantine when he started posting videos of himself making different dishes on his Instagram account.

“I’ve always loved food and obviously when quarantine hit, I really started getting into it,” he explained.

“My fiancé (Nicola Peltz) started filming me and I started posting it and it’s just something I like to do.”

Brooklyn then started preparing the ingredients for the sandwich – and it was here that viewers’ online mockery really took off, with social media users calling out everything from his hatred of ‘liquid eggs’ to the lack of butter on the bread.
