But he would later leave his job to pursue a career in comedy.

Henchy has also worked on many popular TV shows, such as Spin City, Life With Bonnie, Entourage and I’m With Her, which he co-created with Marco Pennette, and which was loosely based on Henchy’s relationship with Shields.
And it turns out that comedy and laughter have been the key to keeping their romance alive as their 23rd wedding anniversary approaches on April 4.
“He made me laugh and he makes me laugh all the time and doesn’t take anything too seriously, so I don’t go down those rabbit holes like I used to,” she shared. People.
“He just brings me back out and says, ‘We’ll figure it out.’ So he can align me well.’
Shields’ American bulldog, Darla, was actually the one who introduced her to her future husband and love of her life.
‘To this day I believe I fell in love with Chris the day we met, in 1999, but I would never tell him that!’ she wrote in her memoir, Down Came the Rain: My Journey Through Postpartum Depression (2005).
“I had just gotten an American bulldog, Darla, and I was taking her to friends of mine at the gym on the Warner Bros. lot. While they were there, the dog wandered off and Chris brought her back. He wrote for a show filmed on the property and loved dogs. We talked and he made me laugh.”

In what some would call a sign of fate, the two met again three weeks later when Shields was hosting a show in Washington, DC where Henchy happened to be one of the writers.
“(W)e started spending time together and became friends,” Shields added. “I was struck by how thoughtful and funny he was.”
They would eventually make their union legal when they married in April 2001, then welcomed daughter Rowan, now 20, in May 2003, and then daughter Grier, now 17, in April 2006.

The role included numerous nude scenes for Shields, who was only 12 years old at the time of the shoot.
The New York City native would go on to star in such films as The Blue Lagoon (1980), Endless Love (1981), The Muppets Take Manhattan (1984), The Bachelor (1999), as well as the hit NBC sitcom Suddenly Susan. (1996-2000), the NBC comedy-drama Lipstick Jungle (2008-2009), and The CW comedy-drama Jane The Virgin (2018-2019).
