Last year, Shields revealed her journey of self-love.
“I love food, and I love alcohol, and I love life, and I want to be heart healthy,” Shields said Glamour in the 2023 Women of the Year Awards – where she was honored for being in her ‘F**k It era’.
‘I don’t like going to the gym. And I’m tired of not feeling skinny enough. It’s boring and a waste of my time,” she added.
She said it was “a process” to change her way of thinking, explaining: “I don’t think I could have gotten here before… You really have to go through it. I wish I could say it was much sooner than recently.”
She said she stopped worrying about public perception after she gave birth to her girls.
‘My body had a purpose that no one had [could take away]she said.
“I’m at a place I don’t think I ever dreamed I would get to. I’m changing the story I’ve been playing out in my head: not good enough, too famous, not this, not this, not this.”
‘I’m so proud. I’m proud of my girls: two vibrant women who will do well, who are unique and smart and funny and different. I feel happy and proud because I know I had something to do with it.’
Although Shields admitted that she had some insecurities, she said they were minor.
“I wish everything was a little higher, and I have a bit of a belly that I never had,” she shared.
“I could lose it if I really wanted to try, but I would rather spend that time having lunch, reading a book, going for a walk, buying a piece of jewelry, going to my daughter’s games.”

She also shared her thoughts on plastic surgery and other cosmetic procedures.
“I’m all for it if it’s really done for yourself, for the right reasons, and gives you the level of confidence you need.”
‘I think it’s easy to have a tendency to exaggerate. I’m afraid of not looking like myself; the times I’ve had Botox I get this Spock eye and I think, “I don’t look like myself,” she shared.
“But I’ll get it [the laser peel] Fraxels, and peels, and whatever the latest thing is, and I’ll try it. I just don’t want to look like myself.’
