Bronny James reveals reason behind jersey selection at first Lakers presser conference
Bronny James has revealed why he chose to wear number 9 for the Los Angeles Lakers, as he remains overwhelmed by his second-round NBA Draft pick.
The 19-year-old eldest son of his new teammate LeBron (39) explained how the latter number is a tribute to his good friend and former rapper Juice WRLD, who died of an accidental overdose in December 2019 at the age of 21.
He said: ‘Juice has been a huge part of me, staying calm in some of the situations that I’ve been through. So yeah, I’m just paying tribute to him, especially since he’s passed. It’s really important to me.’
Bronny shares a common ‘999’ tattoo with Juice, although the guard has it behind his ear, while the ‘Lucid Dreams’ hitmaker had it on his own body. The angel number 999 represents the completion of one cycle and the beginning of a new one.
When someone sees this number, it is usually a sign that a chapter in his or her life is coming to an end soon and new opportunities and possibilities are opening up.
