Broncos star Reece Walsh picks strange way of defending foul-mouthed rant at referee in Titans game

Broncos star Reece Walsh chooses a strange way to attack the NRL instead of shocking F and C bomb tirades at umpire who could see him rubbed out of State of Origin

Broncos star Reece Walsh has lashed out at NRL officials after his foul-mouthed tirade during Sunday’s loss to the Titans landed him in big trouble – and teammate Adam Reynolds is backing him up.

But instead of making his case on his own Twitter or Instagram account, the fullback couldn’t contain himself when a media organization posted images of his spray on Twitter and hit back in the comments section of the post.

The Broncos star was penalized for the outburst during the shock loss and will now have to wait anxiously after being referred straight to the judiciary in a move that could see him rub shoulders for State of Origin game three.

Referee Chris Butler penalized Walsh for obstruction late in the game, and the 20-year-old could then be heard on an on-field microphone hurling foul language at the umpire, including the F and C words.

Brisbane was then marched down an extra 10 yards for disagreement with Butler heard to tell Captain Adam Reynolds: ‘He [Walsh] will go [for] the next.’

Fox League later posted video of the incident on social media, to which Walsh replied, explaining that the referee was wrong.

‘I wasn’t talking to the ref, I’ll say that clearly! Can see Patty too [Carrigan, teammate] come over and talk to me,” Walsh wrote.

Adam Reynolds backed him up with his own comment.

Bulldogs veteran Josh Reynolds was fined $1000 earlier this season when he used an expletive to describe a decision by umpire Grant Atkins.

Walsh was sent off for a headbutt on NSW star Jarome Luai in this year’s second Origin match and will now appear before the NRL judge on Tuesday night over the Butler incident.

It was a disappointing performance from the Broncos, who missed some great opportunities during the game.

It was a frustrating game from the Broncos, who were sloppy on offense

Coach Kevin Walters expressed his frustration with his team’s attitude after the game.

“We as a team or club have not earned the right to come here and do that performance,” he said.

Walters had tried to blast his way at halftime with a destructive spray, but the Broncos couldn’t respond and the Titans were outstanding.

“I’m a little angry,” Walters said.

“I don’t like that team that played today. It’s not who we are.’
