- Drunk into an Uber while under the influence of drugs
- Was in court to answer the charges
- Will now face sanctions from the Broncos and NRL
Brisbane Broncos star Ezra Mam has faced legal consequences after a head-on collision while driving under the influence of drugs.
The incident occurred on October 18 in Bardon, Brisbane, when Mom’s Ford Ranger collided with an Uber.
A woman and her four-year-old daughter, passengers in the Uber, suffered minor injuries, and there were rumors that the child may have suffered a broken hip.
Mom, 22, was found to have cocaine in his system after failing roadside and hospital drug tests.
The NRL player pleaded guilty in the Brisbane Magistrates Court on Monday to driving with a relevant drug in his blood and driving without a licence.
He was fined $850 and disqualified from driving for at least six months.

Mum was charged following this accident and will be investigated by the NRL Integrity Unit
Mom checked herself into a rehabilitation center shortly after the crash, completing a four-week program and committing to a year of counseling.
His manager, Nash Dawson, stated that Mam is concerned about the well-being of the victims and is working to take responsibility for his actions.
The Brisbane Broncos confirmed they are working with the NRL Integrity Unit, which is investigating the matter.
Broncos CEO Dave Donaghy expressed the club’s disappointment, noting that Mam apologized for his actions and acknowledged their impact on the club and community.
“I understand the seriousness of the situation and how important it is to stand up and take responsibility for my actions,” Mom said earlier.
The incident has put Mom’s $4 million contract with the Broncos in jeopardy.
He is not expected to return to training until 2025, with the club’s new coach Michael Maguire stating that discussions over his future would take place after the legal process has been completed.
Maguire previously said Mom needs time to focus on rehabilitation and responsibility.
Mam’s actions have sparked broader discussions about player responsibilities and community expectations in professional sports.
The Broncos have pledged to support Mam during his recovery as they remain determined to uphold their standards. While the legal process continues, the NRL is considering possible penalties, including a suspension and a fine.
Despite the controversy, Mam has vowed to work hard to rebuild his reputation and live up to the expectations placed on him as a role model.
