Denver Broncos wide receiver Jerry Jeudy has addressed his viral beef with legendary WR who turned NFL Network analyst Steve Smith Sr.
During the pregame lead-up to Week 6’s “Thursday Night Football” matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs, Smith was absolutely Jeudy lit during a tirade in which he called the undeformed 24-year-old a “JAG” – just another guy – rather than an impact player.
Shortly after the video of Smith’s comments went viral, Jeudy seemingly responded to Smith before vibrating a little louder than normal to the pregame music right behind where Smith and the pregame crew were filming.
Speaking to reporters on Thursday, Jeudy stated that he had “no hatred” for Smith, but that he didn’t appreciate him acting differently when the cameras weren’t there.
“I’m just going to go ahead and clear the air, and this is the last time I’ll talk about it. Basically, if he had apologized to me, I would have understood,” Jeudy said.
Denver Broncos wide receiver Jerry Jeudy has talked about the beef with Steve Smith Sr.
During the “Thursday Night Football” pregame show, Smith called Jeudy “just another player.”
Jeudy has been high on the 1-5 Broncos offense all season
“And I would have listened to what he had to say. Where I come from, if someone talks bad about you, you don’t go up to him or her personally and try to be nice to him or her… I don’t hate Steve Smith. He was a good player.’
‘I just stand on what I stand on. You feel some way, stay the same way when you see me in person. I have nothing against him, that’s just how I feel. “If I had known you would apologize, I would of course have reacted differently.”
“But at the same time, I know someone has spoken badly about me, I told them what it is and went from there. He took it to the media and made it bigger than it needed to be.”
Jeudy has also put his name at the center of trade rumors as the Broncos and Indianapolis Colts have reportedly had “extensive” trade discussions regarding him and that talks have progressed beyond the point of “exploratory talks.”
The wideout tried to downplay the rumors, while also stating that it didn’t bother him while speaking to reporters.
“I block all that out… I know how my coaches think about me, I know how my teammates think about me,” Jeudy said.

He also made comments Thursday seemingly blaming his teammates for his poor grades
“All these people who have something to say, their opinions are outsiders who have never set foot in the locker room, never seen me practice, never seen how this s*** really works….”
“Trade me or don’t trade me, it doesn’t matter. At the end of the day, I will still be me.”
Jeudy also made some statements Thursday that could be seen as blaming his teammates for his disappointing performances this year, which could potentially accelerate his departure if the Broncos indeed plan to move him elsewhere.
‘As a recipient you are dependent on many people. You could be open, but the OL isn’t doing his thing, the QB hasn’t done his job, the OC doesn’t have you in a… it’s a lot of things that we have to go through as a WR to be successful,” Jeudy said.
Through five games this season, Jeudy has recorded just 20 catches for 222 yards and zero touchdowns as the Broncos have compiled a 1-5 record.
