Brody Jenner and Tia Blanco celebrate daughter’s first birthday party – and Caitlyn Jenner makes a shock appearance after Brody said he’d be the ‘exact opposite’ dad

Brody Jenner was over the moon on Monday when he and his fiancée Tia Blanco shared some adorable photos and videos from their daughter Honey Raye’s first birthday party.

“Can’t believe my little angel turned 1 today! You are so loved ,” the 40-year-old reality star gushed in the caption of a photo of himself and his future wife planting kisses on their daughter’s cheeks.

But the birthday party turned into a surprise reunion, as his mother, Caitlyn Jenner, 74, made an unexpected appearance to celebrate her granddaughter’s birthday, despite being seemingly estranged from Brody.

Just days after Honey Raye was born, Brody shared a video documenting Tia’s pregnancy, saying he planned to be “the complete opposite” of how Caitlyn raised him.

Brody’s mother Linda Thompson and Tia’s parents Sina and Simon were also present at the party.

In her own post, Tia wrote: ‘Happy birthday to my favorite girl in the world! They say when you have a baby it’s like you can see your heart beating outside your body… and that’s exactly what it feels like!

“The best year of my life being your mama, Honey Raye! Thank you for all the love, joy and happiness you’ve brought me!” she continued. “The kindest heart, the purest soul, the most spirited personality and the happiest little spirit! Mama loves you! Happy 1st birthday!”

Honey wore a cute pink dress with a skirt decorated with butterfly-shaped pieces of fabric.

The little girl was given a white cake with icing, decorated with a large “1,” in honor of the occasion, and she celebrated by hilariously throwing the cake all over her face — and Tia’s, too.

Brody wore a festive red Hawaiian shirt with a picture of a baby on it (although it was unclear whether it was his own child) and he wore a black hat with white fangs on the front.

Tia looked gorgeous in a long-sleeved white linen crop top with yellow floral embroidery on the hems.

She wore simple white sweatpants and gray loafers.

The lovebirds celebrated Honey Raye’s birthday on a gravel path in the backyard, surrounded by trees and shrubs, with pretty faux flowers on metal stems and playful mounted mushrooms.

Brody’s mother Linda wore a sleeveless white layered dress in a photo with the grandparents, while Caitlyn wore a peach-colored top with dark pants, thick sunglasses and a light pink visor.

It was clear she was part of the family when she posted another large family photo with Brody and Linda, although she didn’t get a prominent spot right next to him.

The former California gubernatorial candidate’s attendance at the birthday party came as a surprise after Brody made comments about her parenting shortly after Honey’s birth.

In a YouTube video documenting Tia’s pregnancy, he looks ahead to becoming a mother himself, but also back at the way he was raised by Caitlyn.

You know, growing up, I didn’t have the best relationship with [Caitlyn],’ he explained.

He said the former Keeping Up With The Kardashians star “wasn’t really around me growing up.”

Rather than follow that example, he looked forward to “doing the exact opposite and being the very best father I can possibly be.”

Earlier in 2019, Brody revealed he didn’t want to watch Caitlyn at all when she appeared on ITV reality series I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!.

When asked if he would support the former athlete, he replied: “I don’t even know what that is,” but added that he hoped she would “do well” during her time in the jungle.

Earlier that year, during his stint on The Hills: New Beginnings, Brody claimed that he and Caitlyn never had a “great relationship” growing up.

While speaking to his mother Linda in one of the episodes, he admitted that it “really hurts” that Caitlyn canceled her plans to attend what he called his wedding to Kaitlynn Carter just a week before the ceremony.

However, he and Kaitlynn, from whom he later split in 2019, later explained that they were never legally married and instead only had a commitment ceremony.

“You just have to let it go,” Linda Brody advised in The Hills: New Beginnings. “You have to forgive.”

“I would have much rather had her there, but… she had better things to do. Apparently,” Brody added.

In the same episode, he claimed that Caitlyn had forgotten to call her children on their birthdays in the past.

Though he and Caitlyn have largely kept their personal drama out of the spotlight since the birth of his daughter, her presence with the rest of his family at the birthday party suggests a thaw may be underway between the two.
