Brittany Hockley shocks fans with wild hairstyle ahead of the 2024 Australian Podcast Awards… but the look is not what it seems

Brittany Hockley nearly sent fans into a panic when she documented herself getting ready for the 2024 Australian Podcast Awards on Thursday.

The Life Uncut podcast co-host, 37, showed fans the stages of styling her hair for the awards show on her Instagram Story.

It started with the former Bachelor star’s hair sporting straight bangs, while the rest of her hair was tightly curled into small curls.

“It’s officially year 10,” she joked alongside the clip, adding, “Is this the finished product?”

Brittany quickly assured her fans to “have faith” in the unfinished look that eventually turned into a chic, curly updo.

“Okay what,” Brittany wrote in a separate story. ‘Obsessed. This will be my new hair forever.”

Meanwhile, Laura Byrne, co-host of her podcast and radio, suffered a nasty wardrobe malfunction during the awards.

The 38-year-old looked excited as she posed alongside Brittany and producer Keeshia Pettit.

Laura wore a bright pink off-the-shoulder dress with ruffles and raised her fist in the air as they celebrated being finalists for two awards that night.

“Yes guys, we did it, team!” she wrote next to the snap.

But the wholesome image was ruined as the former Bachelor star’s adhesive bra was completely visible.

Taking the blunder to heart, Laura reshared the photo and zoomed in on the embarrassing wardrobe malfunction.

‘FFS. Steven wouldn’t be impressed,” she wrote, referring to a fan who criticized her for being disorganized ahead of the event.

The dazzling evening comes after the girls’ fellow radio colleague Mitch Churi quit the live broadcast this week and confirmed with listeners that he had been fired from the KIIS FM network.

The radio star, who co-hosted drive-time show Pick Up with Laura and Brittany, became emotional as he revealed the heartbreaking news to his co-stars.

“Late last week I was told by the powers that be that they have identified my role here as one that will not return in 2025,” Mitch began.

Mitch then revealed that he was blindsided by the decision and wished it hadn’t come to this.

“I just want to say it wasn’t my call or my decision. I really wanted to stay on the show with you two. I really wanted to stay at KIIS.’

Co-star Laura interjected, saying she and Brittany fully supported Mitch and wished him all the best for the future.

“This is not what we want for the show. It is a decision made beyond our control. Britt and I have to continue the show without you and we are devastated,” she said.

“Not only are you our co-host, but you’re also one of our best friends,” Brittany interjected.

Fortunately, Mitch can bid a proper farewell to listeners, as he will remain on the air until the end of the year.

Mitch later posted the clip to Instagram and his famous friends quickly took to the comments section to share their support.

“We will miss you, Mitch,” wrote fellow radio stars Amanda Keller and Brendan “Jonesy” Jones.

‘I’m so sorry. I know it hurts. But the world waits. One door closes, another opens, that will certainly happen in your future,” added Channel Seven presenter Kylie Gillies and TV presenter Tristan MacManus interjected: “Sorry to hear.”

On Wednesday, Laura and Brittany were spotted supporting Mitch as he left the KIIS FM studios in North Sydney following the shocking news.

The radio hosts looked emotional as they hugged Mitch as they walked him out of the studio, shortly after the shocking news broke that he had been given his marching orders.

It follows that KIIS FM is in shambles this week as the big star has reportedly been given marching orders and he will be done by the end of the year, according to the Daily Telegraph claimed on Tuesday.

He has hosted The Night Show with Mitch Churi since 2019 and co-hosts The Pick Up with Laura and Brittany.

The decision was made for “financial reasons,” the paper claims, and Mitch, who hasn’t been on the air since Thursday, got the bad news on Tuesday.

“Mitch is shocked and completely blindsided,” the publication quoted a “colleague.”
