Brittany Hockley angles for a ‘freebie wedding’ as she shamelessly approaches brands in the lead-up to her nuptials with footballer Benjamin Siegrist

Brittany Hockley appears to be looking for a ‘free wedding’ after approaching several brands in the run-up to her wedding to Swiss footballer Benjamin Siegrist.

The podcaster’s manager this week put out a call for brands in the industry to collaborate with the former reality star, hinting that it would be a sponsored event.

“Brittany Hockley recently announced her engagement to Rapid #1 goalkeeper Benjamin Siegrist,” they wrote in Australia’s members-only “PR bible” Social Diary.

“We are interested in fitness, beauty and lifestyle brands that are a good fit for us in the run-up to Britt’s wedding. Britt has 248,000 followers on Instagram and Ben has 48,000.”

Ny Breaking understands the website, which connects Australian brands, influential talent and journalists, is being inundated with items for its news list.

However, the number of brands asking influencers to endorse their products far outweighs the number of talents raising their hands for free products in exchange for content.

Brittany, 36, traveled to Bali for the past two weeks to plan her wedding and create content to drive potential new collaborations with other brands.

During her recent working holiday, she promoted Jetstar (who flew her to Bali), Ayana Resort and a brand of sunscreen via multiple Instagram posts.

Wedding planners responded en masse to a video the former Bachelor star shared in which she joked that she didn’t have much planned for the wedding that she had previously said would take place earlier than expected.

“No date, no location, no dress, no food, no alcohol, no photographer,” the video caption reads, prompting wedding planners, bridal gown shops and other businesses to offer their services to the gorgeous redhead.

Alyssa Stevenson, Brittany’s talent manager at ASM, declined to comment to Ny Breaking Australia on Thursday when asked about the Jetstar partner hashtag in one of her recent Instagram posts.

In 2023, the global influencer market was estimated to be worth a record $31.4 billion (US$21.1 billion).

It’s no secret that Australia’s top influencers make money by advertising their followers a life of luxury that’s largely #gifted or #sponsored. But a better question might be: who’s going to pay for the luxury destination wedding Brittany is advertising?

According to the latest Easy Weddings report, a typical wedding in Australia now costs $33,810, compared to $34,715 in 2023.

The 3,500 couples surveyed by the wedding industry watchdog said the ongoing cost of living crisis has seen them tighten their garters and opt for smaller ceremonies, the backyard weddings made popular by the Covid-19 pandemic, or intimate nuptials.

Bachelor star Brittany announced her engagement to Ben, 32, earlier this year.

On Wednesday’s Ask Uncut podcast, a listener submitted a question about her friend’s wedding in Canada.

The anonymous bridesmaid asked Brittany and her co-host Laura Byrne if they thought she should buy her good friend, the bride, a wedding gift, since she had already spent “a lot of money” on flights for her and her partner to attend the wedding.

“Should you buy a wedding gift for someone who has already invested $4,500 to get to the destination?” the listener asked.

“I may be completely alone in this answer,” Laura said. “But I don’t think you need to buy a gift when you’re spending a ton of money to go to a destination wedding,” Laura said.

“No, I don’t think you’re alone,” Brittany agreed. “F**k no!”

During her trip to Bali, she promoted Jetstar (who flew her to Bali), Ayana Resort and a sunscreen brand in multiple Instagram posts during her recent working holiday.

“But Laura, I’m getting married at a different location and I would love it if you gave me a present,” she joked.

“No, but as someone who is having a destination wedding, I don’t want any gifts from anyone,” Brittany said. “To me, that’s so cringe! Your gift is your presence.

“If all the people I love go to the trouble of traveling to Bali, then you don’t have to give me a gift. If you’re LOADED – no, I’m kidding.”

The reality star gave her podcast listeners more details about the wedding plans last month.

‘[I’m going on a] super quick trip, four days in Bali…we’re going to look at a few locations. I know which one I want, but I don’t know if it’s available,” Brittany revealed.

“And I think we’re also going to do a tasting at a location that I don’t even want to be at, but that we love.”

Brittany didn’t reveal the exact date of the wedding, but did hint that her nuptials might take place sooner than expected.

“We only have one time of the year that we can get married, and it’s not that far away. It’s less than a year away,” she said.

Brittany, who used to describe herself as “the eternally single hostess,” had been dating Ben for eight months when he proposed.

The couple met in November 2022 and first connected on the dating app Raya, when Ben’s team Celtic FC were playing in Australia.
