Brittany Higgins has shown off her growing baby bump for the first time and revealed she is having a baby boy.
The former Liberal Party political staffer and her husband David announced in July that they were expecting their first child after a lavish wedding on the Gold Coast a month earlier.
On Sunday evening, Higgins gave an update on her pregnancy via Instagram.
She also shared a series of recent photos, including her in a brown dress that showed off her baby bump at their home in Bordeaux, France.
She also shared an image from a recent ultrasound, a selfie with her husband David Sharaz and a photo of their cavoodle.
She admitted it had been an “acutely stressful” pregnancy, on top of a recent defamation lawsuit against her former boss, Liberal Senator Linda Reynolds.
“Five weeks ago, David and I got the shock of our lives after the midwife told us, halfway through my second trimester, that my blood test had thrown up some red flags,” Higgins wrote.

‘Our baby had a high chance of having a genetic condition – which didn’t matter to us – but frighteningly it could mean he was incompatible with life outside the womb.
“After an amniocentesis and seemingly never-ending wait, our prayers were answered. Our little man is fine and healthy.
‘My thoughts wander back to that waiting room in the hospital, full of pregnant women, all having the same test as us and whether they had been so lucky.’
Ms Higgins concluded the post by thanking her friends and family who have been “such wonderful people” to her and Mr Sharaz during the “past few weeks of uncertainty”.
‘Your resilience is, as always, inspiring. I love you,” Mr Sharaz commented on the post.
