Brittany Higgins’ ‘death threat’ scare: Man is accused of threatening ex-staff fiancé David Sharaz and their pet cavoodle Kingston: ‘I’ll chop your dog up… bury you both!’
A man who allegedly sent 49 online threats to Brittany Higgins, her fiancé David Sharaz and their cavoodle Kingston has been charged.
David William Wonnocott, 49, was arrested around 10am on Wednesday in Tweed Heads, northern NSW, and charged with sending the former political staffers and their beloved pet a barrage of threats from various social media accounts .
Screenshots previously shared by Sharaz revealed a series of direct messages sent last year in which Wonnocott reportedly threatened to follow them home and “kill you when you least expect it.”
“I’m chopping Kingston into little pieces,” read another message. “I’ll bury you both.”
Wonnocott is believed to have sent the messages using a profile photo of Archibald Prize-winning artist Craig Ruddy, who died of Covid-19 in January.
Mr Sharaz shared the screenshots on Twitter in April last year, which Ms Higgins retweeted saying: ‘I have endured a lot of abuse and numerous death threats since speaking publicly about my experience in Parliament House.’
Attacking my partner and threatening to hack up my little cavoodle, however, is a whole new low. Please be better everyone.’
Wonnocott used carriage service to threaten to kill and used carriage service to threaten/intimidate/insult.
He has been given strict conditional bail and will appear in Tweed Heads local court on May 31.
