Britney Spears ‘working on duet album’ that could include collaborations with Dua Lipa and Sam Smith

Britney Spears plans to enter the studio “to record an album of duets” following the success of her single Hold Me Closer with Sir Elton John.

The 41-year-old Circus singer could record songs with the likes of Dua Lipa, Ariana Grande and Sam Smith — all of whom are included as fans of Britney, according to The sun.

The Toxic hitmaker – whose sons may be moving to Hawaii with their dad – hasn’t released an album since 2016’s Glory, and she has no plans to promote new music, so the duets album is a good way for her to reach out to fans.

A music insider told The Sun: ‘Britney won’t be going out to promote anything current, so a duets album is a good way to avoid having to do any promotion while still getting the songs played all over the world.

“Britney loves nothing more than putting out music, so this is one way she can stay relevant while giving her time to figure out how to take her next steps,” the source continues.

“Every day is taken as it comes, and this is a very low-risk way to stay in touch with her fans while creating great partnerships.”

News of the duet album comes as Britney gains a foothold and her freedom after 13 years of close surveillance under the direction of her father Jamie Spears, 70.

And although the Baby One More Time singer plans to eventually make new music, she doesn’t want to go on the massive and long tours she used to do.

“Britney is traumatized from touring. For years she was given grueling travel itineraries and forced to perform – even before her conservatory,” a source told me. Page Six.

The breaking point for the New Mickey Mouse Club alum came in 2018, according to the source, as her team decided to turn her lucrative Las Vegas residency into a 30+ stop “international tour” as well as a new, multi-year Las Vegas residence.

She desperately needed a break after four years in Vegas and didn’t get one. And then they had the guts to book a second residency right after that,” explains the source.

Her Britney: Piece of Me residency grossed $137.7 million from 248 shows between 2013 and 2017.

That second residency, Britney: Domination, never happened, as her father had her committed to a mental health facility weeks before it was set to debut in 2019, reportedly because she didn’t want to do the new residency.

The Piece of Me singer was under guardianship that controlled every facet of her life since she melted into the public eye in February 2007.

In 2021, the I’m Not a Girl, Not Yet a Woman singer found her voice again and started speaking out against the conservatory.

At the time, she said her father and managers “should be in jail” after they “punished” her when she said no to gigs.

In November 2021, a Los Angeles judge terminated the 13-year conservatorship, giving the I’m a Slave 4 U singer control of her own life for the first time since she was 26.

Since graduating from conservatory, Britney has married her longtime boyfriend, Sam Asghari, 29, and signed a $15 million deal for an upcoming memoir that has reportedly left some A-Listers from her past frightened of what she will to reveal.

Then, on August 22, 2022, the Gimme More singer released a duet with Sir Elton John of one of his most iconic songs, Hold Me Closer, which became her first top 10 hit in nearly a decade.

“The great thing about Britney being free again is that she’s in control for the first time in a long time and she’s doing it at her own pace,” the PageSix source added.
