Britney Spears revealed that method acting in the 2002 film Crossroads was disorienting and she didn’t know how to ‘get out of character’.
In her upcoming memoir, The Woman in Me, the 41-year-old singer — who recently revealed she had an abortion with ex Justin Timberlake at the age of 19 — says she had “no separation at all” from her character.
“The experience was not easy for me. My problem was not with anyone involved in the production, but with what the acting did to my mind,” she wrote in the excerpt, shared with People.
“I think I started doing Method – except I didn’t know how to get out of character. I really became a different person.’

After filming ended, the singer decided that an acting career was not on the cards for her, stating that she was “relieved”.
“I imagine there are people in the acting field who have done something like that, where they’ve had trouble separating themselves from the character,” she added.
The film returns to the big screen for two nights, October 23 and 25, alongside the release of the memoir on October 24.
The film follows best friends Lucy (Spears), Mimi (Zoe Saldana) and Keith (Taryn Manning) on a road trip across the United States.

The star claimed that while she wanted a baby and ‘dreamed of having a family’ with Timberlake, he ‘wasn’t ready’ for the responsibilities of parenthood and thought the couple were too young.
