Britney Spears may have a new snake tattoo, but she really wasn’t a big fan of the creatures when she performed with a live python at the 2001 VMAs.
The 41-year-old pop princess – who recently split from her 29-year-old husband Sam Asghari – has revealed she felt ‘scared’ while singing I’m a Slave 4 U at the MTV event featuring the huge albino snake wrapped around her neck.
Britney shared a throwback video of the iconic performance on Instagram, adding that while it’s one of her favorite sets, she wasn’t exactly thrilled with the reptile that joined her on stage.
Just days after unveiling her new red snake ink, the Baby One More Time singer wrote, “One of my favorite performances was with an albino python.”

On Instagram, she showed how she really felt as she sang I’m a Slave 4 U at the Video Music Awards, with a snake wrapped around her neck
The Toxic singer then remembered how terrifying it was to dance with the snake wrapped around her.
“I still remember how scared I felt when I handed over this snake and stepped onto the stage,” she continued.
In the clip, Britney can be seen wearing a green bra with purple jewels and low-waisted shorts adorned with a multi-colored butterfly.
Green, purple and blue scarves were tied to the singer’s shorts and fluttered behind her as she danced across the stage.
Her outfit was designed by Kurt and Bart.
The clip is wrapped in an image from her upcoming memoir, The Woman In Me, in which she promises to delve into the circumstances of her years of conservatorship while taking an unvarnished look at her relatives.

Showing off the fresh ink for the camera, she happily turned around, looked forward and said, ‘My new snake tattoo guys! I am so delighted!’

‘I told more about this performance and other favorites in my book The Woman In Me. Can’t wait for you to read it on October 24,” she wrote.
Her throwback video comes a week after she showed off her new snake tattoo during her acrimonious divorce from Sam.
She happily revealed the new ink on her back and showed snippets of the process on Instagram.

The beginning of the film began with the singer looking away from the camera while wearing a yellow floral strapless crop top and white jeans.

In a statement posted to his Instagram account, the actor wrote: ‘After 6 years of love and commitment to each other, my wife and I have decided to end our journey together’
The video then cut to the star sitting on a chair in a living room while the tattoo artist worked on her lower back.
She added, “It doesn’t actually hurt that much.”
The star’s video came amid her shocking and nasty split from Sam after he filed for divorce from the artist on Aug. 16, citing “irreconcilable differences.”
In recent weeks, the Hot Seat actor has officially unfollowed Britney on Instagram.
The singer seemed unfazed and uploaded a video of her having fun with friends, including her longtime manager, Cade Hudson.
It was recently alleged that Britney believed Sam was “secretly working” with her estranged father Jamie, giving him information that would help her lock up her 13-year conservatorship.
A source close to the pop star has now claimed that she began to have serious doubts about the relationship long before they officially split.
According to the Spears family insider, Britney had become suspicious that Sam — whom she began dating five years before her father’s long-term conservatorship ended on her — had provided Jamie, 71, with details about her life.

Sources told We weekly in an article published last Wednesday that the pop star “has no intention of reconciling with her father,” adding: “Jamie is the last person she would ever turn to. He will most likely never be a part of her life again.’
Another insider informed the outlet that Britney “feels manipulated and betrayed by Sam.”
The former couple reportedly do not speak to each other and only communicate through their legal teams.
Sam has also since moved out of Britney’s house and settled into a Los Angeles high-rise apartment called The Thousand, which the singer helps with financially. “She will pay him until everything is settled in court,” says a source.
