Britney Spears, 41, has shared details of the horrific abuse her family members allegedly faced at the hands of her “cruel” grandfather, June Spears Sr.
She went on to explain how June, who had worked as an officer with the Baton Rouge Police Department, fathered 10 children with three women.
She explained: ‘As far as I know, no one has one good word to say about the first fifty years of their life.
“Even in my family, it was said that the Spears men often brought bad news, especially when it came to the way they treated women.”
June was even accused of having two of his three wives committed to a ‘terrible’ mental asylum in Mandeville.
Britney recalled how her paternal grandmother, Jean, was given lithium — a drug the singer was later medicated with during her conservatorship — after the death of her three-day-old son. Eight years later she shot herself at his grave.
Luckily for Britney, her experience with her grandfather wasn’t as fraught as she claimed June “softened as he got older.”
“I did not experience the cruel man who abused my father and his siblings, but rather a grandfather who seemed patient and sweet,” she said.
An investigation by New York Magazine 2022 saw Leigh Ann Spears Wrather – Britney’s aunt and her father Jamie’s half-sister – publicly address her claims that she was sexually and physically abused by the former police officer.
She claimed they would go to church, where June was the deacon, before he made her perform a sex act on him on the way home.

He was famously accused of tyrannizing Britney for 13 years during her controversial ‘conservatorship’, effectively imprisoning her in one of the most strict and unusual legal guardianships.
He took control of her life and finances in 2008 after a number of highly publicized mental health issues, including shaving her head.
It started as a temporary arrangement but was made permanent by the end of the year.
In the years that followed, Britney was considered good enough to operate in what the former trustee in the lawsuits called a “hybrid business model,” but not good enough to keep her personal life in check.
Luckily for Britney, her experience with her grandfather wasn’t as fraught as she explained in the book: “June softened as he got older.”
