Sam Asghari, the estranged husband of Britney Spears, has broken his silence following the news that he is filing for divorce from his estranged wife.
In a statement posted to his Instagram account on Thursday, the actor, 29, wrote: “After 6 years of love and commitment to each other, my wife and I have decided to end our journey together.”
He continued, “We will hold on to the love and respect we have for each other and I always wish her well,” adding, “S**t happens.”
“Asking for privacy seems ridiculous, so I will ask everyone, including the media, to be kind and considerate.”
The latest update comes after sources said the Toxic singer got physical with Asghari on several occasions, once giving him a black eye while he slept.

Asghari, 29, reportedly told friends that the pop princess, 41, would attack him during their seven years together, according to TMZ.
Sources told the publication that there were numerous fights where security had to come between the couple.
The model was reportedly stunned after his then-wife started beating him while he slept in their bed.
He was pictured earlier this year with bruises on his arms and face, sources say the dates coincide with the alleged attack.
Sources claim Asghari was concerned about the Toxic star’s fascination with knives, which were scattered around the singer’s $11.8 million home in Thousand Oaks.
One of them told TMZ that Britney was “paranoid that someone was going to get her and she needed the knives for protection.”
The star is also accused of “flying off the handle” at the slightest thing, terrifying Asghari.
It comes after DailyMail.com revealed that their relationship had descended into a dark and desperate condition in the final weeks of their union.

He also reportedly relinquished all claims to Britney’s music collection, and his name is not on the title deed to their shared home.
