Britney Spears appears to SHADE Blake Lively with ‘updated version’ of her iconic Versace dress – after actress wore original to It Ends With Us premiere: ‘I like it way better’

Britney Spears appeared to imitate Blake Lively and the 2002 Versace dress once worn by the Gossip Girl star at the premiere of It Ends With Us.

The 41-year-old Toxic singer posted a video of herself wearing the short pink and blue dress with ornate detailing on the sides, set to the tune of The Outfield’s 1986 hit Your Love.

“UPDATED VERSION OF MY 2002 VERSACE DRESS. I like it much better. Showing my legs!!,” Spears captioned the post, adding a series of emojis.

The New Mickey Mouse Club star was quickly accused of defaming Lively, 36, and edited her post.

“Updated version of my 2002 Versace dress!!! I’m no @blakelively but I like it…show me my legs!!!” the revised caption read.

Lively was all excited when she revealed that the rainbow-hued dress was the one Spears actually wore on the red carpet of her 2002 Versace fashion show premiere.

Blake spoke excitedly about the dress People at the premiere, saying, “It should be at the Smithsonian or the Met, but ‘it’s on me. I feel so lucky!”

Some fans thought Blake wanted to use the dress to say she wanted to play Britney in the film adaptation of her memoir.

“Blake Lively is a true Britney Spears fan,” wrote one fan on X. “The fact that she shows her love for Brit in such an honest and adoring way makes me think she would be a good candidate for the biopic.”

According to film industry insiders, it is not a nod to the casting for the Britney biopic, but Blake is simply a fan.

Blake also took to Instagram this week to express her excitement about the opportunity to wear the dress, posting a photo of herself in the dress next to a photo of Britney at 22.
