Britney Spears announces she’s written a new song in cryptic Instagram post: ‘No beef with anyone… just being a narcissist’

It will be music to the ears of Britney Spears fans around the world.

On Saturday, the pop superstar, 41, took to her Instagram page and announced that she has written a new song titled, which appears to be titled “Hate You To Like Me.”

Making the big reveal on social media, the singer-songwriter shared a photo of herself looking seductive with her eyes closed.

‘I wrote a new song!!! I hate that you like me!!!’ she started in the caption, before expanding on the title. ‘No arguing with anyone… just being a narcissist in a claimed, self-proclaimed way!!!’

She further explained her choice of photo, writing, “It’s meant to create interest by giving ego with my eyes closed because that’s what I hear important people do these days.”

This new song, when released, would be her first new solo song since releasing her last studio album, Glory (2016), seven years ago.

Glory, her ninth studio album of her career, contained the singles Make Me and Slumber Party.

In the seven years since her last full-length album of original songs, the singer lent her vocals to Elton John’s Hold Me Closer mashup, which peaked at number six on the Billboard Hot 100 in 2022.

And last July, Spears collaborated with Will.i.am on the single Mind Your Business.

This week, the McComb, Mississippi, native released her highly anticipated memoir The Woman in Me, which is full of surprising revelations, including the pregnancy during her relationship with Justin Timberlake, which ended with her having an abortion, according to People.

For the most part, Mind Your Business received mostly negative reviews, with journalists criticizing the production, vocals and lyrics, including Spears repeating “Mind your business, b**ch” over and over.

The single marks the duo’s fourth collaboration, following Big Fat Bass (2011), Scream & Shout (2012) and It Should Be Easy (2013).

Spears has spent much of the past few years trying to stay out of the spotlight since wrapping up her Piece Of Me Tour, which ran from July to October 2018.

Of her nine studio albums, six have rocketed to the top of the Billboard 200 chart.

In total, Spears has sold more than 150 million records worldwide, including more than 70 million in the United States, making her one of the world’s best-selling music artists.

It comes after Spears sent her fans into a frenzy over the weekend when she announced on Instagram that her second memoir will be published next year.

Her first book The Woman In Me hit shelves on Tuesday and has already caused a media earthquake, with revelations and brutal barbs against her ex Justin Timberlake, her family and her old feud partner Christina Aguilera.
