They were both severely abused by Justin Timberlake.

The Toxic singer explained in her memoir how Justin seemingly capitalized on their breakup on his first solo album, specifically with the song Cry Me a River.
As he galloped through Hollywood as America’s Golden Boy, he painted her as a “whore” as she mourned their breakup deeply at home in Louisiana.
“Janet and Britney are still bonded over the response and Janet has reached out to offer her support and encouragement,” the source said.
The insider also claimed: ‘Britney was shocked by the way Janet was treated at the Super Bowl and felt like she was being attacked by the same PR machine that had denigrated her.’
