‘There is no basis for staying any part of the case (as the Court recognized at the January 5, 2024 hearing) and there is certainly no basis for staying the briefing or any other activity in any way related to Jamie’s pending summary proceedings. for hearing on April 12, 2024,” Spears’ legal team wrote in their latest filing.

He indicated that he and Britney were unlikely to resolve their issues after spending more than two years without an agreement.

‘The parties have had months (yes, years) to discuss a settlement. They have not settled. “Imposing an adjournment simply because there is a meditation on February 23, 2024 seems certain to result in a continuation of the trial if the parties do not settle for mediation,” he continued.

The petition also highlights that Britney’s former conservator filed his petition to authorize and approve the payment of compensation to Conservator and Lawyers for Conservatives and Reimbursement of Costs almost three years ago, in March 2021.

The petition was a request for Britney to pay his legal fees due to the conservatorship battle, but so far the Toxic singer and her attorney Mathew Rosengart have resisted paying Jamie’s costs.

His petition is expected to be resolved when the trial begins in June this year.

‘Britney wasted more than two years in motion regarding the threatened statement by non-partisan Robin Greenhill, scheduled the statement for January 29, 2024, and unilaterally canceled the statement the Friday afternoon before the statement (apparently concluding that the statement was meaningless),” the filing continued.

‘The Court warned the parties that the trial will not continue. The parties have already waited a month for consultations and rulings on the outstanding discovery disputes,” the documents said.

“Every day is critical to ensure the case continues to move forward and is ready for trial without the need for a continuation. Accordingly, Jamie requests that the Court not adjourn this case pending the upcoming mediation and maintain the set trial dates.”

While Jamie may simply want to complete the process since the conservatorship has been over for years, he also has financial incentives to avoid delays, as his bills on expensive legal counsel will increase the longer the proceedings take.

That could hit him particularly hard, as Spears and Rosengart have resisted his requests to have her cover his legal costs.

In a statement she made in court shortly before her conservatorship ended, Britney accused the arrangement of keeping her from marrying her then-boyfriend Sam Asghari.

Britney also said she was denied simple acts of independence, such as being allowed to drive her own car.

In an even more shocking moment, she even claimed that her IUD should not be removed.
