Britney Higgins and fiancé David Sharaz leave for trip way after she announced new UN job

Brittany Higgins has been spotted traveling with her fiancé while carrying a book by an ABC reporter on Australia’s justice system – a day after revelations about her prestigious new UN role.

Ms Higgins was seen dressed casually on Saturday in a blue and white dress and simple sandals, while her fiancé David Sharaz donned a beige jacket, jeans and brown boots.

The pair were seen packing designer luggage into a white sedan.

The former Liberal staffer carried her dog under one arm and a copy of ABC journalist Louise Milligan’s book Witness under the other.

Shortlisted for the 2021 Stella Prize, the book is an examination of the shortcomings of the Australian justice system’s handling of high-profile claims of sexual abuse.

The couple’s luggage included a navy blue Longchamp bag and exclusive RIMOWA suitcases, which retail for up to $3,000.

It was revealed on Friday that Ms Higgins had scored a role at the United Nations dedicated to ending discrimination against women.

Ms Higgins also confirmed rumors that she and Mr Sharaz had recently flown abroad for an extended trip.

Ms Higgins shared a series of photos of herself posing outside the Palais des Nations, the United Nations Conference Center in Geneva, Switzerland.

“Honored to intern this year at the @unitednations Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW),” she wrote on social media.

Her wardrobe choices include a baby pink suit and blazer paired with Gucci style high heels. A similarly designed shoe costs $1,000 in Australia.

After the story was published, Ms. Higgins posted a message on her Instagram story, revealing that the Gucci shoes belonged to her mother Kelly.

On Saturday, testimony emerged from a Colombian-born cleaner who was sent to tidy Senator Linda Reynolds’ parliamentary office in the hours after Ms. Higgins alleged she was raped there.

His testimony poured cold water over the persistent rumor of an alleged ‘clean steam’ cover-up.

Carlos Ramos was asked to clean Senator Reynolds’ office on March 23, 2019, after parliamentary security staff officers alerted a Treasury Department official that two staffers had entered the office and that Ms. Higgins had been sleeping on the couch.

Ms. Higgins did not publicly disclose allegations of an attack until much later, and investigations by former Inspector General of Intelligence and Security Vivienne Thom and the Federal Police showed that there was no reason to suspect one at the time.

However, late night drinks in parliamentary offices are not uncommon in Canberra and special cleans are sometimes ordered to ensure MPs do not get to the remains of a party.

When Mr. Ramos arrived to complete the cleaning, expecting a job of two hours or more, he thought the room was so tidy that he called his boss, who then contacted security personnel to make sure they had the right room. had.

During cross-examination, Ramos told attorney Katrina Musgrove, “It was just routine cleaning.”

His testimony refutes the claim that the couch in Ms. Reynolds’ office had been thoroughly steamed in the hours following the alleged assault.

Ms Higgins came forward in 2021 to accuse her colleague Bruce Lehrmann of raping her in a minister’s office at Parliament House in March 2019.

Mr. Lehrmann has always strongly denied the allegations and they have never been proven in court.

His case resulted in a mistrial for juror misconduct and prosecutors declined to take Mr. Lehrmann’s case for retrial because of concerns about Ms. Higgins’ mental health.

Senator Linda Reynolds is suing Mr Sharaz in the Supreme Court of Western Australia over five social media posts she says were ‘falsely defamatory’.

However, the case had been languishing since January as Ms Reynolds’ lawyers struggled to serve the elusive former journalist with court documents.
