She surprised her American husband by making a bacon sandwich in the traditional English way, before revealing he loved it

In the clip, which has been viewed more than 2.1 million times to date, Caroline can be seen standing in her kitchen while speaking directly to the camera.

Holding a frozen loaf of bread and a pack of bacon, she begins, “I’m going to make my American husband an English bacon sandwich because I went to the Irish store… don’t ask me how much I spent.”

She defrosts the bread as she explains, “There’s a big difference between American and English bread – when you know it, you know it.”

Caroline continues: ‘Compared to American bacon, you do have to add a little bit of oil to the pan, because it simply contains less fat.

‘Obviously you don’t need oil with pork belly. I made that mistake when I first moved here.

‘I prefer my bacon this way, but that’s probably because I’m used to it. This is what we eat at home. I don’t know if my husband likes it that much, but he gets it.’

She lets the bacon cook in a skillet before turning her attention to making the perfect bread base.

Caroline explains: ‘While that’s bubbling, let’s construct this. This is definitely preferable. For me, I like a lot of butter and a little ketchup.”

The content creator states that the trick is not to toast the bread as she spreads a thick layer of butter on a slice of bread before adding ketchup and bacon.

She uploaded the clip alongside a caption that read: ‘Can’t beat a good ol’ British bacon sarnie. My husband loved it’

The content creator then states that the trick is not to toast the bread while she spreads a thick layer of butter on just one slice of bread.

She says: ‘On the other hand, I also buy my ketchup from the Irish store because ketchup in the US contains quite a lot of chemicals and I try to keep them as low as possible for the children.’

Caroline then adds a drizzle of hot sauce to her husband’s sandwich before removing her bacon from the stove.

She says: ‘As you can see, fat is definitely coming off, but if I had American pork belly, this would be swimming if I added oil too.

‘And then you just plate it up. I like to put three pieces of bacon per sandwich. Actually it’s all a matter of preference, some people add an egg to it.’

But other social media users weren’t so sure about her methods as one wrote: ‘Why don’t we tackle the butter and ketchup?’

Caroline holds up the finished creation and concludes, “That’s it. And it’s pure bliss.’
