A desperate British expatriate offered $50 to the first person to remove a spider from her room.
The young woman was shocked to discover a huge huntsman spider lurking in the corner of her home in Coogee in Sydney’s eastern suburbs.
Despite offering a price for the removal, hundreds admitted that the spider was much too big for the price, and advised the woman to take more drastic measures, such as using a flashlight.
“Just burn the house down,” one man suggested.

The young woman placed an ad for spider removal on a local expatriate page.
‘Is anyone good with spiders? Will gladly pay someone $50 to get this spider out of my apartment in Coogee,” she said.
It is more common to find huntsman spiders in your home during the summer months when they are trying to escape the heat outside.

“Maybe it’s time to move,” one woman said.
“Burn the house to the ground,” suggested another.
Others couldn’t believe the creature’s size.
“Is that thing on steroids or something?” a man asked.
Several people said they would not have removed the spider even if they had been given $500.
However, other people scold them for “overreacting.”
“That’s a hunter, it won’t hurt you and they kill mosquitoes. I suggest a vacuum cleaner,’ said one woman.
“Don’t hurt them, just grab a pint glass and a piece of cardboard and secure it and put it out the door,” another commented.
The large spiders can grow up to 15 cm, which makes them look very threatening, but they are not considered dangerous.
They have venom and their bite can cause pain, but they are known to be unwilling to bite.
The recommended method of removing the spider is to use a container and a piece of cardboard.
