A British woman has been found dead in Cyprus in the home she shared with her partner.

The 38-year-old woman, who has not been named, was found ‘with bruises all over her body’, according to local media.

The Cyprus Mail reported that the woman’s partner notified local authorities of the death.

He told police he found the woman Wednesday afternoon when he returned to their home.

She was found around 4.30pm in their apartment in Kato Paphos, Western Cyprus, police said.

Investigators, including forensic officers, were collecting evidence at the scene for scientific investigation, said Cypriot police chief Michalis Nikolaou.

Cyprus Mail said initial examinations showed the woman had bruises all over her body and periocular hematomas (also known as a black eye) in both eyes.

Her body has been transferred to the mortuary of Nicosia General Hospital, where an autopsy was scheduled to take place at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Investigators hope the results will shed light on how the woman died.

The police are continuing their investigation.
