British TV star shocks fans as she manages to slip under the radar while travelling on the tube: ‘How are your fellow passengers not taking a selfie?’

Although celebrities often portray an overtly glamorous life that audiences can’t hope to replicate the rich and famous show, they are just like regular people.

Suranne Jones took to her Instagram on Wednesday to share a photo of herself switching from luxury mode of transportation to traveling on the London Underground.

But her followers were left stunned when the actress, 45, appeared to go completely unnoticed by her fellow passengers on the Piccadilly Line.

The photo showed the Vigil star sharing a sly smile with the camera as she sat in the train carriage next to two oblivious male commuters.

Suranne wrapped herself up warm in a black puffer jacket and carried a large handbag on her lap as she showed off her chic, newly cut bob.

She wrote: ‘End of a long creative storyline day with @amoconnor01 and @monumentaltelevision who then invited us to a small private screening of @backtoblackuk.

‘Tube, cup of tea and a sleepover. Soon news about our efforts with you. Perfect end to a fantastic day. Secret camera work by @amoconnor01’.

But Susanne’s followers couldn’t help but be shocked that she had managed to remain unrecognizable during her commute.

They said, ‘How can you not know you’re sitting next to Suranne Jones? I should chat. You shouldn’t miss such an opportunity!; I would totally pass out.”

‘Do people not recognize her?; I was on the same subway line a few times yesterday..why couldn’t I have sat next to SJ..dammit!!’

‘How can your fellow passengers not take a selfie?; Imagine sitting next to Suranne and not knowing Suranne.’

While others praised the Gentleman Jack star for taking advantage of the humble underground, they wrote: ‘So nice to see such a big star doing normal things like a busy subway but a lot of actors feel like they don’t want to be noticed become and want to hide; So nice to see that you travel by public transport, such as the subway/metro/train.’

Several stars have surprised passengers in the past by hopping on the tube, including Harry Styles, Rihanna, Emma Watson, Lily Allen, Jay Z, Kendall Jenner, Eddie Redmayne and Spice Girls Mel B, Mel C and Geri Horner.

Suranne’s secret new project comes after she said she was looking forward to working behind the camera in the future.

Although she has many film acting credits to her name, including Coronation Street, Scott & Bailey and Doctor Foster, she said she wants to focus more on her career as a producer in the future.

She and her husband, former magazine editor Laurence Akers, run a production company together called TeamAkers Productions Ltd, and their show Maryland will air on ITV this year.

In December, Suranne explained, “My husband and I set up our production company and made Maryland, and we just made our first documentary. We have just received two orders that will go into production next year.’

Speaking about taking a step back from the spotlight, she said: “I love it. I hope to eventually make projects that I don’t participate in. I can have some tea and chill.

‘It would be good not to do everything. But I’m really excited about our projects next year.”
