A horrified British tourist filmed the moment a “hero” caught a huntsman spider hiding under his seat during a visit to Australia Zoo.

Stephanie Cara shared the video on Monday after going to the famous Queensland Zoo to see their famous crocodile show.

“This is crazy, a huntsman spider was right under my seat while we were waiting for the show,” he said.

No way, no fucking way.

Huntsmans is a large spider, averaging 12cm across, that likes to hide in small, dark places and is found throughout Australia.

Although the spider is venomous, hunters are usually very timid and its bite has only mild effects.

A man sitting next to her jumped to the rescue and tried to catch the baby spider, armed with a map of the zoo and a paper cup.

He began to follow the spider as it moved between the seats as the startled onlookers watched.

“Have someone from the zoo pick him up,” Mrs. Cara yelled at him.

‘Don’t try to be a hero.’

Just a few seconds later, it appeared that the man had caught the spider, but he managed to run up the bowl and escape as the crowd around him screamed.

However, the man was determined and managed to catch the spider a short time later.

A crowd gathered around when a man sitting near Ms. Cara caught the spider between a zoo map and a paper cup (above).

Commenters wrote that Ms. Cara (above) was overreacting to the spider, while hundreds more wrote that it would have run away.

“You are so brave, well done!” Ms. Cara yelled as the crowd cheered and applauded.

However, several Australians in the comments called the whole saga “funny” and accused tourists of overreacting.

“I wanted to watch the show,” joked one commenter.

“I don’t understand how people get so scared of spiders,” said another.

“Just a normal house spider down here,” wrote a third person.

But hundreds more commenters said they would have been even more terrified if the big spider got out of his seat.

‘My God, I would run and I would never stop running! This is an absolute horror to me,” said one.

“And this is why Australia is not on my list of places to visit,” another person wrote.

“I almost dropped my phone when he dropped the spider,” a third commented.

A fourth said: “I would marry any man who would do this for me in a heartbeat.”
