British tourist dies when his scooter is hit head-on by a six-ton ​​truck in Thailand, hours after wishing his ‘beautiful wife a happy Valentine’s Day’

A British tourist has been killed in a head-on collision with a six-tonne truck in Thailand, just hours after posting a Valentine’s Day message to his wife.

He had returned from the beach on the popular tourist island of Phuket in southern Thailand on a scooter.

Witnesses said the motorcycle collided with an Isuzu NLR 130 van and the force of the impact threw the motorcycle through the air and hit a gray Toyota minibus, reportedly damaging both vehicles.

Police and paramedics rushed to the scene on Patak Road in the popular holiday town’s Rawai district, but the man could not be saved.

The man’s last message online read: ‘Want to wish my beautiful wife a wonderful Valentine’s Day… You are my rock and my world. I love you with all my heart.’

Lieutenant Colonel Tamen Somrak, the duty officer who dealt with the crash, said: ‘The station received a report from the radio center at around 5.10am that an accident had occurred involving three vehicles.

‘The British man was dead when paramedics arrived. His body has been taken to Vachira Phuket Hospital for a full autopsy.”
