A British tourist has been burnt alive after the caravan she was staying in with her boyfriend caught fire in Turkey.
The 54-year-old woman was on holiday in the Turkish port city of Bodrum when the caravan caught fire in the early hours after an electric heater reportedly caught fire.
She and her Turkish boyfriend woke up to find the fire quickly engulfing their caravan and desperately tried to flee.
But the woman’s frantic efforts to reach the caravan door and escape in time were to no avail, leaving the Briton trapped in the inferno.
Her boyfriend, who has not been named, somehow managed to escape the fire and is being treated for burns.
The fire brigade quickly arrived on the scene, but failed to extinguish the fire in time to save the Briton. They found the woman’s lifeless body in the charred remains of the caravan today.
