British tourist, 49, dies in Magaluf after being found unconscious on a street near the Punta Ballena strip at 4.30am
Police are investigating the death of a British tourist in Magaluf.
The 49-year-old was found unconscious in the resort’s Martin Ros Street, just off the busy Punta Ballena promenade, after the alarm was raised at around 4.30am this morning.
A security guard alerted local police and told officers he saw the man collapse and fall to the ground.
Attempts to revive him at the scene proved unsuccessful and he was pronounced dead shortly afterwards.
The dead man was identified by the wristband he wore from the hotel.

Police went to the hotel, which has not yet been officially named, to inform friends and relatives who were believed to have stayed there.
An autopsy will be carried out in the coming hours. The ongoing investigation into the holidaymaker’s death is being led by the Guardia Civil. They are collecting CCTV footage in the area.
A spokesperson for the Municipality of Calvia, the local authority responsible for Magaluf, confirmed: ‘A British tourist aged 49 died on the street in the Magaluf district this morning.
‘It happened around 4.30am. The dead man was staying at a hotel in the area.”
He added: ‘A worker at a local establishment alerted police and said a man was unwell and staggering around in the street.
“Local police arrived and performed CPR but were unable to revive him. The Guardia Civil has taken over the investigation into the cause of death.’
No official comment has yet been received from local police or the Guardia Civil.
