A British tourist has died after falling head first five feet as he tried to climb from a hotel balcony on the Greek party island of Zakynthos.

According to Zakynthos police, the 23-year-old man stepped on the railing on Wednesday as he tried to get off a hotel balcony.

He then lost his balance and fell about 5 feet, head first.

Local news channel Parapolitics reported that the man tried to get up twice but fell.

Just hours earlier, another British man reportedly fell from a first-floor balcony in the same Greek city, sustaining serious injuries.

Although there appears to be no third party involvement in either incident, Zakynthos police are investigating.

Both incidents came just months after a 21-year-old British man jumped from the fifth-floor balcony of a hotel while on holiday in Turkey with his girlfriend.

The man is said to have fallen from his hotel room in the tourist attraction Antalya.

Police and doctors quickly arrived at the scene in the Alanya district. The seriously injured tourist was taken to hospital.

He reportedly later died of his injuries, despite the efforts of doctors to save his life.
