A British teenager has officially become the fastest 14-year-old 100m sprinter in the world after smashing the previous record to set a stunning new time.
Divine Iheme, perhaps the fastest teenage athlete on the coast at 14 metres, set a new milestone by clocking an astonishing time of 10.30 seconds.
‘Lightning’ Divine was seen as one of the future superstars of the track after setting UK best times in the 100 and 200 metres in April this year.
In June he also ran his best 100 meters in a time of 10.65 seconds and crossed the finish line even faster. Unfortunately he misses the record books because of races where the wind played a role.
However, his incredible performance at Lee Valley this week will go down in history.

Iheme’s blazing fast time, which was confirmed on social media, was more than enough to better the previous record of 10.51 seconds held by Jamaican talent Sachin Dennis.
He is known for studying images of legendary sprinters in an attempt to climb the ranks, but he insists he is not allowed to copy them. Instead, he calls his talent “God-given.”
“I watched quite a few of Usain Bolt’s races and Allyson Felix’s 200m, 400m and relays,” Iheme told Sky Sports.
‘Probably the first race I saw was his [Bolt’s] The world record in the 200 meters, 19.19, inspired me to pursue my dream.
‘I’m trying my best to get out of the bend with a catapult [in 200m] and keep on being the first until I cross the finish line.

But instead of focusing on individual glory, his career goal is to make his family proud
In my opinion I think my [running style] is unique and natural. I’m not trying to copy it from someone else. It’s just a God-given talent.’
Rather than focusing on individual fame, Iheme also revealed that his ultimate career goal is to make his parents proud and repay them for their years of support.
“I always try to make my parents proud,” he added.
“I want to make sure that in the future they can just sit back and relax while I give them presents, buy them a house and things for the future.
“The goal is to make them happy and have a great life.”
