A British mother has died after undergoing a Brazilian buttock augmentation in Turkey that she hoped would change her life.
Kaydell Brown, 38, from Sheffield, paid £5,400 for a ‘mummy MOT’ – a package deal including a Brazilian butt lift, a tummy tuck and a boob job. The cost in the UK would have been around £15,000.
The hairdresser underwent the treatment on the morning of March 26, 2024 at Clinic Expert in Istanbul, but never returned.
Her 40-year-old sister Leanne, who was due to undergo the same operation, was heartbroken and fiercely criticised the Turkish clinic, calling it a ‘pop-up butcher shop that needs to close’.

Leanne claimed that after doctors told her her sister had died, she was given an envelope of money and booked on the next flight home.
“It’s like, ‘I’m sorry she’s dead, here’s your plane ticket,'” she said ITV.
Kaydell hoped the surgery would get her life “back on track” after she gained weight from her ankle injury, her sister said.
Leanne said: ‘She was really happy. She was excited. We were laughing, having fun and she just wanted to get out there and get it done.’
Two days later, Kaydell went into the operating room in the morning for the surgery, which was scheduled to last five hours.
But 10 hours later, her sister Leanne was told that the operation had tragically killed her sister.
“That night they told me she didn’t make it. I couldn’t believe it. I was still sitting in a room waiting for her to come back. I had asked a few times how long she was going to stay, and they kept saying, ‘She’s coming.'”

After her request to see her sister’s body was denied, Leanne was forced to return to England without her lover.
The clinic’s expert told ITV News: ‘An internal investigation found there was no negligence and that Kaydell’s death was likely caused by fat blocking a blood vessel, which can happen with this type of surgery.’
According to Kaydell’s surgeon, Dr. Sinem Singin, her death was the result of known complications related to the surgery and not medical malpractice.
A government spokesman said: “Our condolences go out to the family of Kaydell Brown.
Kaydell’s family members are devastated by the shocking tragedy
‘The British government is actively engaging with the Turkish government on how to ensure the safety of patients wishing to travel to Turkey for medical treatment.’
‘We urge anyone considering having cosmetic surgery abroad to research the procedure in question, the qualifications of their doctor and the regulations in the country they are travelling to.’
The British government said its officials were in contact with Turkish authorities over the death of the mother of two.
The findings of a British pathologist after examining Kaydell’s body tissue led to the launch of an investigation, which was postponed until early 2025.
Kaydell’s family has not yet received any information from Turkish authorities about the cause of death.
According to the British Foreign Office, 28 Britons have died after undergoing cosmetic surgery in Turkey since 2019.
