Amanda’s GoFundMe page has already surpassed the £10,000 goal in the three days since its launch.

Denia Chibwe, Ms Chibwe’s sister, wrote on the page: ‘Today words fail me as I have tragically lost a beautiful vibrant soul, my one and only sister.

“Amanda traveled abroad on vacation and sadly drowned.

Help arrived, but she later died in hospital. She left behind her beautiful 3 children.’

She added: “Our wish is to have her back home where she belongs.

“We would really appreciate any help as I know she has touched so many lives with her kindness, laughter and her caring soul.”

Many commentators expressed shock and sadness at the passing and offered words of comfort to the Chibwe family.

One commenter wrote, ‘Amanda, you were such a real girl, I have nothing bad to say about you.

“The most genuine of many, very sweet with a loving spirit, I will always remember you like this.

“My condolences to your family and friends in particular.”

Police said Chibwe became unresponsive in the water off Bermuda (pictured) and was rushed to hospital but later died

Bermuda police say they do not consider her death suspicious.

A police spokesman said: ‘Around 4:45 pm on Friday 24 March 2023, police and other first responders headed to Southlands Beach following reports that a woman had been found unconscious in the water and had moved to shore.

She was cared for at the scene by EMTs and was then transported by ambulance to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital where she was sadly pronounced dead a short time later.

‘Foul play is out of the question. Mrs Chibwe, a British subject, was visiting the island at the time of her death.

“The Bermuda Police Department extends its condolences to Ms. Chibwe’s family and loved ones.”
