A British soccer fan asked for help locating his lookalike after spotting him in the crowd at a World Cup match in Qatar.
Steve Hunt, 48, from Norwich, Norfolk, couldn’t believe his eyes as he watched the Netherlands-USA match from his home on Saturday.
Just over 10 minutes into the match, the camera panned to a Dutch fan with a bushy beard and slicked-back hair, wearing black-rimmed glasses.
Speaking today, Mr Hunt said he had to ‘pinch himself’ after his double appeared in front of him.
Steve Hunt, 48, from Norwich, Norfolk, couldn’t believe his eyes as he watched the Netherlands-USA match from his home on Saturday.
Hunt, a welfare coordinator, said he stopped the television and approached the man, who was wearing a Dutch uniform with a scarf around his neck.
The father-of-two said: ‘I had to pinch myself.
I would look at myself on the screen in the crowd in Qatar and think: “But I’m here, I’m not in Qatar.”
“I was thinking that there must be a parallel universe, that the time portals had crossed, and that I was in two places at the same time.”
Mr. Hunt’s wife, Syreeta, was overly struck by the unsettling similarity after she walked into the room to see her husband staring at the screen instead of watching the game.
Ms Hunt said: ‘My first reaction was stupid. I thought, “What the hell is my husband doing in Qatar while I’m stuck in Norwich?”

Hunt, a welfare coordinator, said he stopped the television and approached the man, who was wearing a Dutch uniform with a scarf wrapped around his neck.
She said that within minutes of appearing on the screen, her and her husband’s cell phones began receiving messages.
Ms Hunt, 47, said: “Everyone we know started texting or calling, even Steve’s mum called saying she didn’t know her son was into football, let alone that I was supporting the Dutch, not England.”
“We had to tell her that Steve was sitting at home watching the game, but she didn’t believe me, so I had to FaceTime her and show Steve sitting on the couch to show he was home.”
She added: “If even his own mother thought it was him, then the resemblance really is something, we have to find out who this guy is.”

Hunt said he even asked his mother if she was “sure” he didn’t have a secret identical twin, adding: “He said he was ‘sure’ I didn’t have an identical twin, and I guess I believe his.
‘The only way to know for sure is to meet this guy and meet his family. I wonder if her mom and her dad look like mine.
Steve said he planned to put out a social media appeal and was going to watch the Netherlands vs. Argentina game on Friday to see if he could spot his double in the crowd again.
