British father arrested for murdering Russian who ‘suggested his underage daughter for sex’ left Wales six months ago to start a new life in Thailand after drug offenses and ‘burned bridges with his family’

A father arrested in Thailand accused of killing a Russian businessman who allegedly propositioned his underage daughter for sex moved to the country just six months ago to start a new life after being jailed served for drug offenses.

The 34-year-old Welshman is accused of killing a man with one punch after allegedly flirting with his 15-year-old daughter at a pool party in Pattaya this weekend.

The man, described as a ‘Flash Harry’, appeared to have only moved to the eastern Thailand city at Christmas in the hope of a fresh start after being jailed in 2017 for possession with intent to supply cocaine and ‘ burned bridges’ with his family.

But within weeks of settling in at the resort known for its seedy nightlife, he contacted family in Wales and begged them to send him money.

One family member acknowledged the arrest, saying, “We know about it, but he’s on his own – we don’t want to get involved. He’s burned all his bridges here.’

“We’re estranged from him, there’s a lot of bad history. I haven’t spoken to him in a long time and that will continue.’

Another family member, who also did not want to be named, said: ‘He had come out of prison and wanted a fresh start. But it seems like things have gotten worse for him there.”

Confusion arose because, contrary to police reports from Thailand, he does not have a Thai wife or daughter there.

Relatives said he has a 15-year-old daughter but she lives with her mother in South Wales.

Before leaving for Thailand, the Brit rented a small, pebbled terraced house in Merthyr Tydfil, where he was unpopular with the neighbours.

He would park his Jaguar and Audi A6 in the middle of the street and block access to other residents, sources claim.

“I stayed far away from him, but there were a few shouting matches with the neighbors,” one said.

‘He lived there alone, but you would occasionally see girls going back and forth.

‘I knew he had gone to Thailand about six months ago. It’s a shock to hear what happened there.”

Boxes of rubbish, including cans of Strongbow cider, are said to have been piled up outside the house in the quiet street today.

A businessman in Merthyr Tydfil, who did not want to be named, said: “He’s a bit of a Flash Harry, he works out, loves his tan and tattoos.

‘I knew he worked in a nightclub in Thailand and many people here are happy to see his back.

“It’s his family I feel sorry for, they’re nice, law-abiding people.”

Around 3 a.m., she claimed she received a text from her husband saying he wanted to go home.

She said: ‘I returned to the villa and found him walking in the street so I took him back inside.

“When I asked him what happened, he told me that while they were drinking, the Russian man started sexually harassing our daughter, even though his own wife was also at the party.

‘The harassment escalated until the man finally proposed to our daughter. This made my husband angry so he punched him once and knocked him unconscious.”

According to an acquaintance of the victim, the men met for the first time at the party.
